Another Sample – More abstract and Illustrative

This is the final sample
A Cathedral in Croatia

For this I drew the illustration of the cathedral on white paper with a black fine-liner and then cut around it leaving a border. I chosen this background I made with a bit of collaged newspaper and watercolour shapes in pastel colours that look very abstract, and I played around with positioning before permanently placing it.

Sample 1 portrait.
I didn’t like where the building was positioned here because it looked too crowded and busy in this one area. There was no contrast or drawing of the eyes to the image.
Sample 2 landscape
This was a very nice positioning
Sample 3 portrait
This did not look right. Its like the newspaper is connected and part of the drawing/focus and it should be just a background feature.
Sample 4 portrait
This looks quite nice. The newspaper is the focus point in the image however, which it shouldn’t.
Sample 5 landscape
This is very nice.
Sample 6 landscape
This is also very Nice.
Its a choice between these two and one of the portrait ones.

I was thinking of maybe creating another piece like this but adding more buildings of famous landmarks in cities and then maybe doing it again but with colour in the illustrations, maybe pen or oil pastels??
